George W. Walker Jr.

Birth: only child of Dr. George W. Walker/Blanche Lockhart Walker.
Death: (3) of congestive heart failure, following a lasser beam treatment for a detached retina.

(3) c.1912: Went with his parents to London, where his father trained in his specialty of eye, ear, nose, and throat medicine.
(3) Moved with his parents to Stockton, CA.
(3) c.1916: Moved to Fresno, CA.
(3) After completing high school, he went to Europe, spending a year each studying in Germany, Switzerland, and Spain. His father insisted that his mother be with him. "He liked to play and of course couldn't with his mother with him, so he managed to dine with her each night and pretend to go to his room to study. Instead he managed to go out to the night spots, that he liked, and meet his friends."
(3) After returning to the U.S., he attended Cheshire Academy, a prep school in Roxbury, CT.
(3) 1932: Graduated from Stanford University with an A average.
(3) Studied at the "Ecole Libre des Sciences" in Paris, France to prepare for the foreign service.
(3) Attended Rudy Bush School, Washington, D.C. until President Roosevelt announced that, due to the depression, no new diplomats would be taken. He returned to Fresno, CA.
(3) Went to work for Shell Oil Co. Operated a service station, then was a Manager at Stockton, CA, then Ogden, UT.
(3) Left Shell Oil to open his own business in Fresno, CA with 2 partners. It was a distributorship for Seaside Oil Co., named The Joaquin Petroleum Co. The business failed.
(3) Opened a wholesale brokerage of gasoline, later joining Currie Bros.
(1) 1951: Living at 208 Peralta Way, Fresno, CA.
(2) 1966: Living at 208 Peralta Way, Fresno, CA 93705.
(3) Was an avid reader and collector of books. Loved to hunt. Went each year to Guamas, Mexico for deep sea fishing.
