1El Paso Herald Post Obituaries, 24 Apr 2004. "Richard David (Dick) Butchofsky, born January 10, 1920, lifelong resident of El Paso and member of a pioneer El Paso family, died on April 17, 2004. He was the son of Elizabeth Manning Butchofsky and Richard D. Butchosky, who preceded him in death, as did his brother, Jack Butchofsky, and stepfather, Arthur Grob. He his survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 58 years, Lucille Carpenter Butchofsky, also a member of a pioneer El Paso family, his daughter Mary Linda Butchofsky Endlich (Edward A.), grandchildren Mary Lynda (Lyn) Peticolas (Cody Ritchey), Jaime Butchofsky Endlich (Tracie), great-grandson Graham Wyatt Ritchey, his brother Dr. Robert L. (Bob) Butchofsky (Marcia), granddaughter-in-spirit Maria Guadalupe (Lupe) Gonzalez and her family, many beloved nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, other extended family members and many good friends. Richard graduated from Ysleta Grade School and Ysleta High School, where he was active in basketball and football. He also attended Arkansas State Teachers College and Texas College of Mines (now UT El Paso). He was very proud of his four-year service as A First Class Torpedo Man for the United States Submarine Navy in the South Pacific During World War II. The first ship he served on, the USS HADDOCK, received two Presidential Unit Citations and completed five successful patrol runs. He then helped to commission the USS SPADEFISH on her maiden voyage to Hawaii. The original intent was that he continue fighting the war on the SPADEFISH, but Captain Roy Davenport insisted that he serve with him on the USS TREPANG. The TREPANG was awarded the Ribbon of Navy Unit Commendation for action during the first war patrol in the Tokyo Bay area of the Japanese Empire from September 13, 1944 to October, 1944. The TREPANG Also completed five successful patrol runs. All ten successful runs were out of Pearl Harbor and Midway Island. At the end of the war, Richard returned to El Paso to resume employment at the El Paso Natural Gas Company. When he retired, after 43 years of service with EPNG CO., as Director of Purchasing, Transportation, Material and Traffic Departments, he was highly respected by fellow co-workers and community members. He and his brothers, Jack and Bob, shared the honor of being named Outstanding Exes for Ysleta High School in 1957. He was a life member of the United States Submarine Veterans of WWII, and the National Defense Transportation Association. Civic organizations in which Richard was actively involved include Loaned Executive for the United Fund for five years, Hotel Dieu School of Nursing for five years, member of the Board of Directors for the Southwestern International Livestock Show and Rodeo, Inc. for ten years, the YMCA, and the YWCA. He also served as a member of Board of Director of the Bank of Ysleta. Professional organizations he belonged to are the Purchasing Management Association, American Trucking Association, Texas Good Road Association, New Mexico Motor Carriers Association, American Gas Association, and Pacific Coast Gas Association. Richard had been ill off and on for about a year and a half, but the past two months really took their toll on him. Members of his family would like to express their gratitude and love to all the care givers who helped take such good care of him and enabled him to be at home most of the time when he was so ill. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2004, at Martin Funeral Home. A prayer and remembrance service will be held at 6:00 p.m. of the same day. Graveside service and burial will be held at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 23, 2004. The Rev. Bill Francis of the Church of St. Clement will officiate. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Robert L. (Bob) Butchofsky, II, Claudy Butler, Stanley C. Green, Richard C. Green, John M. Green Jr., Jefferey B. Green, Dave Houser and Michael R. Robinson. Honorary pallbearers are Don Butchofsky, Dr. David Carnes,A.M. 'Guy' Johnsen, Alan Thompson, Bernie Warren, Len Brock, John M. Green, Kenneth E. Butchofsky, 2177 Wyoming street, were held at 2 o'clack Tuesday afternoon in the Kaster and Maxon chapel. He is survived by his widow and three sons, Richard, Jack and Robert; one brother. Leonard Butchofsky, and one sister, Mrs. Herman Keith."

She had been a resident of El Paso over 50 years, was supervisor of nurses for Ysleta School district and formerly a nurse with Ysleta High School, she graduated from Masonic School of Nursing at the old Masonic Hospital. Member of the Ysleta Baptist Church and Yslets Womens Club. Member of Tri-State Teachers Association and the Texas Graduate Nurse District No. 1. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Grob: three sons. Dr. Robert Butchofsky. Richard Butchofsky and Jerk Butchofsky, all of El Paso; six grandchildren and two sisters. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, in the Kaster & Maxon Chapel, with Dr. W. H. Ford officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Park."
