"John Bowen married Penelope Read Borden, daughter of John and Mary Pearce Read and widow of Stephen Borden, at Freetown, Massachusetts, in 1739. They had two sons. The family lived at Tiverton, Rhode Island. He married (2) Sarah Gray, a widow. He died at Tiverton in 1800, said to be 100 years old. Descendants listed lived in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York, and elsewhere."
