William married and resided in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, was deputy in 1695 and 1696.William Cory. Born ca 1659 in Portsmouth, RI. William died on 14 May 1704 in Portsmouth, RI.
William was admitted freeman in 1664. He served on a grand jury in 1687. On 2 Jul 1695 he was appointed by the Assembly on a comittee to propose a method of making a tax rate. He was a deputy 1695-96.
Will of William Cory of Portsmouth, dated 14 May 1704, proved 4 Jun 1704, mentions father William Cory late of Portsmouth deceased; unnamed mother one of the executors; sons Michael Corey under 21, William Corey second son under 21, Thomas Corey third son; four daughters Patience Cory, Mary Corey, Amey Corey, and Sarah Corey all under 18 and unmarred; brother-in-law Joseph Cook; and friend Benjamin Hall
Will Dated 14 May 1704. Proved 4 June 1704.
Ex. Honored Mother and my brother-in-law, Joseph Cook.
To son Michael, 12 acres, at age, and if he die without issue, to son Thomas.
