A letter in the possession of Hazel Mason Boyd that was written by Col. James Mason at Mt. Sterling, Ky. on the 19 Apr 1828. It says, "My great-grandfather, James Mason, must have been a religious man if naming his sons is an indication, they were, Peter, James, Luther, John." Mrs. Boyd believes there was also a Benjamin & a William and she thinks Col. James Mason's grandfather was a William, but has no proof.
