In regards to Presley Suttle being the son of George, no, I am not 100% sure of this link, but am forwarding a note that I have attached to George Suttle's file, it is from Mary Settle, who is one of the members of the Settle/Suttle team that is compiling more information for the Reese book. Hope this clarifies things better. Edie "The link of Presley Settle to the family of George Settle (S-52) was made due to a substantial amount of evidence. Actual documentation has not been found, but circumstantial evidence supports this link. Presley was not named in "The Settle-Suttle Family" by Wm. Emmitt Reese and, therefore, does not have a reference number to that publication. Presley was living in Sumner County, Tennessee while two other sons of George were also living there. There is a long line of males given the middle name of Morgan (named for Mary Morgan, wife of George) in the generations that follow George. This naming practice is also prevalent in the descendants of Presley. The migrations of George's sons and grandsons from Barren and Simpson Counties in Kentucky to Sumner County in Tennessee and the migrations of sons and grandsons of Presley from Sumner County Tennessee to Simpson, Warren and Barren Counties in Kentucky, support Presley's place within the family as a son of George Settle."

He was born in Fauquier Co., VA, ca 1780; he died testate in Barren Co., KY, 1837 (Will Book 3, page 127, Barren Co., KY).
He married in Barren Co., KY, 1850 (Marriage Bonds, File Box 1, Barren Co., KY), Sally Dodd, daughter of James Dodd. She was born in VA, 1787 (US 1850 Barren Co., KY census, page 690), and died in Barren Co., KY, 1863 (Estate administered 1863, Order Book, 1863, Barren Co., KY).
By profession he was a medical doctor. He apparently was the first member of the Settle family in America to bear the name Simon, having been named for his mother's uncle, Sergeant Simon Morgan of the French and Indian War, father of Capt. Simon Morgan of the Revolutionary War (National Archives, RG file 249, VA 9 Regt. Col. John Gibson 1778-1779 Capt. Simon Morgan's Company; RG file 364 (No. 11) - "List of Charges apparently on Account of Pay for the year 1782 on the Books of the Commissioner in VA". This list contains the name of "Simon Morgan Captain". Also, see Roster of Fauquier Co. Militia, 1761), whose name also appeared on a roster of the Fauquier Co. Militia in 1761. Sergeant Simon Morgan and William Morgan, father of Mary Morgan Settle, were sons of Charles Morgan, Sr. (See will probated 27 Sep 1766, Will Book 1, page 107, Fauquier Co., VA, listing children, Charles, Simon, William, Benjamin, James, Alice, Mary, and John; Will of Sgt. Simon Morgan, probated 25 Feb 1793, Will Book 2, page 260, Fauquier Co., VA, naming children, Joseph, Charles, Simon, Heremiah, Sucky Clark, Cathy Bradford, and Rosy Cocran).
Dr. Simon Settle came from Fauquier Co., VA, to Barren Co., KY, in 1802. He brought with him a power of attorney, dated 29 June 1802, from his father, George Settle, authorizing him to secure deeds and take possession of all of his land in KY, especially two tracts, one of 300 acres in Barren Co. and one of 2,000 acres in Fayette Co. This power of attorney was recorded in a Court held for Barren Co., KY, Aug 1802 (Deed Book B, page 22, Barren Co., KY). A few years later, his father, George Settle, deeded him a tract of land containing 390 acres at the mouth of Beaver Creek and on Skeggs Creek (Deed Book 16, page 524, Fauquier Co., VA -- Quitclaim deed from Isaac Settle to George Settle, dated 6 Oct 1806. Also, see deed from George Settle to Simon Settle, dated 17 Mar 1806, Deed Book C, page 54, Barren Co., KY). This land adjoined the land of his brother, William Settle. Here Dr. Settle built a very unique and attractive home in 1808. The walls were of brick that were burned on the place, the floors were of ash, and the rest of the woodwork was of yellow poplar. All of the lumber was hand-sawn and hand-dressed.
In the will of Dr. Simon Settle, probated 1837 (Will Book 3, page 127, Barren Co., KY), wife Sally and each of his fourteen children were named.

Elizabeth Settle, No. 179, daughter of George and Mary (Morgan) Settle, was born in Fauquier Co., VA, ca 1767, but the date and place of her death are unknown.
She married in Fauquier Co., VA, 23 Feb 1789 (Marriage Bonds, Vol. 1, page 253, Fauquier Co., VA) Nimrod Young. He apparently was born in VA, ca 1764, but the date and place of his death are unknown.
The date that Nimrod Young and family moved from Fauquier Co., VA, to KY is unknown, but it was prior to 1800 (1800 US census, Franklin Co., KY), for in the US census for that year he was living with his family in Franklin Co., KY. At a later date they moved to Mercer Co., KY, for in Oct 1822 (Deed Book 12, page 409, Mercer Co., KY), they were living in that county on a 285 acre farm adjoining the lands of William Davenport and A. Sharp.
