I was 10 when Dan died, at home, following a serious bout of strep. He had a small flock of sheep. He fed them at the same time religiously. Betty was 18 or 19 at the time and she kept the sheep fed during Dan's illness but they did not eat as well. Dan died about 8:15 in the morning and the sheep started to bleat at almost the same time. They "cried & cried". They were so forlorn Sybil had to call someone to come pick them up and take them away. She could not handle their grief."
