Lloyd graduated from Holdrege High School. He was active in the Band, playing Saxophone and Clarinet. He then attended Kearney State College for three years where he met and married Aileen who graduated from Kearney State College. They moved to Denver about 1944. Lloyd opened an automobile repair shop and Aileen worked as a substitute school teacher in the Denver Public Schools. Lloyd worked until his health began to fail. He enjoyed working on cars for more than 35 years. The day of his death he had just watched the Nebraska Corn Huskers Football team (Big Red One) beat their opponent on television.
Velma "Vee" Viola Peterson, 87, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at the Methodist Memorial homes in Holdrege, Nebraska. Funeral services will be conducted from the Nelson-Harris Funeral Home, Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997 at 2 P.M. with the Rev. Donald Leff officiating. Interment will be in theIndustry Cemetery, Atlanta, NE.
She was born south of Atlanta in Phelps County, the third of 13 children. She graduated valedictorian with the Atlanta High School Class of 1928. She received her teaching degree from the Kearney College and taught one year at Edison.The Organist for services was Elna Nyberg, Soloist, Marlin L. Jones, Pallbearers, Ken Ohrt, Joel Bergman, Mike Borden, Brian Borden, Scot Borden and Jeff Borden.
