John Gibboney

John and Elizabeth Gibboney were the ancestors of the Gibboneys of Bedford, Blair and Mifflin counties, and of the Hoops of Centre county (PA), who held many municipal and county offices in their respective localities.  One of their descendants, Dr. G. F. Hoop, was surgeon of the 84th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War, one of the incorporators of the thriving borough of Philipsburg, PA, and was the greatgrandfather of A. Y. Casanova, Jr., son of the writer of the article "A Carpenter Family of Lancaster."
