Dolly Carmelita Arnold, a 72-year-resident of Elma, died at home in Elma on Thursday, January 29, 2009. She was 90. Dolly was born December 19, 1918 in Satsop, Washington to William and Alta Caly Borden. Dolly graduated from Elma high school in 1936.
She married LaVern Arnold on March 13, 1937 at their Pastor's home in Olympia. Dolly was a homemaker for her large family. She was involved in 4-H and the Elma Senior Center. She enjoyed all types of crafts and cherished her role as a Sunday school teacher for more than 50 years. Dolly is survived by her husband, LaVern of the family home.
She is also survived by her son, Jim (Sally) Arnold, Elma; daughter, Marguerite (Paul) Allshouse, Lynden; sons, Will (Linda) Arnold, Terry (Darlene) Arnold, Randy (Elizabeth) Arnold, Shelly (Valerie) Arnold, Steve (Laura) Arnold and Byron (Dawn) Arnold, all of Elma. Dolly is also survived by her sister, Midge Marshall, her brother, Dick Borden, 29 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Dolly is preceded in death by her parents, William and Alta Borden, son Richard, grandsons, Kevin Allshouse and Joshua Arnold, 2 sisters and 6 brothers.
Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Whiteside Family Mortuary, Elma. Memorial Services will be held 1PM Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the Grange Hall in Elma.
